Banyan Foundation, a development organization, started its flagship program with 20 slum kids at a slum in Mohakhali, Dhaka in 2011. The foundation has been established with the hope of bringing the means of basics needs to
the most marginalized people, particularly women and children, living in different remote parts of our country with literacy and skill development programs. Banyan Foundation is a registered organization under the society act of Joint Stock Commission in 2012 ( Registration Number, RJSC: S – 11549), and it will ensure sustainable development programs for these particular groups of people All the programs of the foundation regarding the development of poor are designed to improve livelihood of the underprivileged people in our country through providing the means of provision of basic needs such as primary education, Health care, vocational training, cultural attachment, environmental awareness etc. Banyan foundation was initiated by a group of socially anchored, enthusiastic and humanitarian young chaps with the motive of constructing the country without poverty by fighting for rights and justice for these deprived people that will help upgrade their living standard and bring them to the main stream dwellers by setting constructive strategies and programs. Namely, Salauddin Ahmed Rana, Founder President, and Md Mizanur Rahman, the founder General Secretary of the foundation, are the two persons responsible for pioneering the foundation.
Banyan Foundation works for people under extreme poverty so that they can enjoy their basic human rights and exercise their inherent potentialities, and moreover for empowerment of these poor people and their family members through providing rehabilitation programs, basic education programs and livelihood opportunities.
